VICKI PERRY

Oil Painting

"Exploring the Artist Within"
Washington artist Vicki Perry loves the dramatic landscape of the Northwest and Puget Sound that she and her musician husband, Fred Francis, call home. For an artist, the West Coast offers a great deal of diversity and inspiration, from beaches to rolling farmland and majestic mountain ranges. Vicki studied art history, fine art, and design at both Washington State University and the University of Washington. Art has always been a passion.

The farms and natural beauty of the tranquil Snoqualmie Valley where she lives, and recent travels through the Western States inspire her paintings. Her primary focus is oil painting, particularly the landscape. She paints in an impressionist style and strives to employ loose brushwork that encourages the viewer’s eye to fill in details. Her goal is to capture the viewers imagination, with the hope that it will resonate with them and transport them to a memory of their own place and time in nature.

Vicki is currently studying landscape painting under Steve Whitney, an award-winning artist and past President of Evergreen Association of Fine Arts (EAFA) and Ned Mueller, a signature member of numerous national and local artist associations (designated a Master Signature Artist by the Oil Painters of America). Although her work has primarily been in the studio, she has moved outdoors to paint en plein air, allowing a more direct interaction with nature and enhancing the spiritual connection that develops as a painting emerges. Fortunately, with her surroundings and with Vicki’s newly evolved passion, there is an endless array of paintings waiting to be put on canvas.
