"I enjoy painting expressive portraits of people because I find our human emotional experiences so intriguing.
I am interested in capturing the essence of a person in a particular moment, and choose to use loose strokes, dramatic contrast, and vibrant color to further convey mood and feelings. Painting alla prima with oils also allows me to be authentic in representing my own spontaneous emotional experience of a subject during the process of painting, and my wish is to create a connection between that and the response of the person viewing it."
