Waterworks Amplified: The Art of the Northwest Watercolor Society

Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony Thursday, October 24, 5-8pm.

October 12 - November 22, 2019

Waterworks Unplugged! The Art of the Northwest Wat

Waterworks Amplified is an annual exhibition comprised exclusively of artwork created by current Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) members. It is juried by a nationally or internationally known artist in water media who selects the accepted entries and judges the winners of awards totaling over $4,000 in cash and merchandise. NWWS members are exceptional artists and this exhibition specifically showcases their extraordinary talent and creativity. The show title refers to the types of artworks now accepted for this prestigious show – in a break with past tradition, watercolor paintings finished with a varnish and framed without glass are now included in this exhibition.

Join us at the reception of this popular show to meet the artists, see great art, and enjoy refreshments. This event is free and all are welcome!

The Northwest Watercolor Society was founded 1939 in Seattle, Washington when a group of eight artists came together to form an organization dedicated to the celebration of watercolor. With a goal to inspire a lasting interest in the art of watercolor painting and an appreciation for watercolor as an artful, imaginative medium, the history of NWWS began. Although we have grown enormously through the years in both numbers and accomplishments, we remain firmly rooted in our history, devoted to the philosophy of the mission statement of our founders: "To promote and elevate the art of watercolor as a medium, to encourage the growth and creativity of our artist members as we remain a prime artistic resource of the Northwest."
